From Text to Table

On 6th July 2016 I presented Digesting Recipes: From Text To Table
a response to the Home Studies Collection at Manchester Metropolitan University
at the invitation of FEAST Journal.

The event included reflections on some of the cookbooks and household manuals contained in the collection, and explored the recipe as a text that invites both a future imagining and details a past activity, touching on cooking as a memory device, a tool for action and a narrative of aspiration.
Together we browsed a selection of items from the collection and played a game of culinary consequences.

A version and documentation of the event will be included in a publication about the whole series, planned to coincide with the launch of the third edition of FEAST journal in May 2017.
